Prof. Dr. Gyorgy Bazsa was born in Debrecen, Hungary, November 7, 1940. He got his education in "Mihaly Fazekas" Gymnasium (1954-1958) and "Lajos Kossuth" University (1958-1963). His academic degrees are: Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1989), PhD in Chemistry (1969), MSc in Chemistry (1963). Among professional interests the following can be mentioned: non-linear reaction kinetics, reaction fronts, frontal polymerisation, development of Suntest® UV-dosimeter, autocatalysis, bistability, oscillations, chemical waves, gravitation effect, catalytic effects in coordination chemistry, separation of tracer radioactive isotopes by asymmetric electrolysis. The number of his publications reaches to 80.

From 1994 to 1995 Dr. Bazsa was the president of Hungarian Chemical Society, Committee on Education. From 1995 to 1999 he was the rector of Lajos Kossuth University. From 1997 to 1998 - the president of Hungarian Rectors' Conference. From 1998 to 2002 - a member of Hungarian Parliament. From 2000 to 2003 - the president of Hungarian Doctoral and Habilitation Council. From 2004 to 2006 - the president of Hungarian Higher education and Scientific Council. Since 2006 he has been a member of Debrecen City Council and since 2007 the president of Hungarian Accreditation Committee.
