Since December 20, 2007 Tatjana Koke is the Minister for Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia

Tatjana Koke starts her professional activities in Riga Technical College, as a teacher of English language. From 1986 to 1989 she was a Senior Lectures at the University of Latvia, Department of Education and Psychology, then till 1999-Docent, Assoc.professor of the same faculty.

In 1999 she was a State Minister of Higher Education and Science Republic of the Republic of Latvia, then the Adviser to the Minister of Education and Science.

Now Dr Koke is a Professor at the Institute of Education and Psychology, University of Latvia. She has a Diploma of Dr. habil.paed. Title of the Thesis is "Social and Educational Foundations of Adult Education". She is a corresponding member of Latvian Academy of Sciences (since 2000).

Since 1986 she teaches courses for students acquiring Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's Degree in Education, Law, Arts or professional Diploma on the following topics: General Pedagogy; Educational Philosophy; Educational Systems in EU countries; Theories of Personality; Adult Education; Innovation in Higher Education; Quality Management and Assessment in HE; Learning Society, Social and Educational foundation.

She was a guest lecturer in
  • Bochum University, Germany (June, 1994)
  • Liege University, Belgium (1996/97)
  • ISLA University College, Portugal (May 2001)
  • Vytautas Magnus Kaunas University, Lithuania (November 2004).
Dr Koke is supervising doctoral students in Education. Six of them have earned degrees since 1994.
