ANDREJS RAUHVARGERS

       Andrejs Rauhvargers has graduated from Latvia State University, Faculty of Chemistry. He is a Doctor of Chemisrty since 1979. From September 1981 to May 1982 he has passed post doctoral followship at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland.

       From 1980 to 1993 he worked as a Lecturer, Associated Professor and Head of Chemistry Department, then in 1993-94 Vice Rector in International relations of Latvian Medical Academy.

       From 1994 to 1999 has directed Academic Information Centre (Latvian ENIC/NARIC). From 1999 to 2000 he worked as Deputy State Secretary in education strategies and international cooperation of the Latvian Ministry of Education and Sciencs. Since 2001 Andrejs Rauhvargers is Secretary General of Latvian Rectors' Council and Associate Professor at the University of Latvia.

       Dr Rauhvargers cooperates with a number of international working groups, such as: Intergovernmental Bologna Follow-up Group (since 1999), BFUG (Board member since 2004), Council of Europe's Higher Education and Research Committee (Board member), Bologna working group for elaboration of the overarching European qualifications framework (member since 2004). He is a President of the International Committee of the Lisbon Recognition Convention since 2001.
